Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

GradGuide is an independent Australian platform for graduate job applicants. This privacy policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. What information we collect

When you post an update or submit an experience, you provide:

• Your university, degree, and WAM range (approximate) — required for every post, so the aggregate statistics shown on the site stay meaningful
• The company you're posting about — required
• Depending on what you're sharing: your application outcome, a process/interview stage, an interview question, or a written review

We do not currently collect an email address or any other contact details from you.

We also collect standard technical information that web servers collect automatically — your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is used for security and to understand how the platform is being used.

3. How your information is displayed

Posts are displayed anonymously. We never show your name, email, or any identifying information publicly. What appears on the platform is the general information you chose to share — for example "UNSW · Commerce/Finance · WAM 75–79" alongside your post text.

We aggregate submissions to calculate statistics like response rates and offer rates. These statistics do not identify individuals.

4. How we use your information

• To display your post on the platform
• To calculate aggregate statistics about programs
• To review and remove content that violates our terms, once reported (see section 3 of our Terms of Service on current moderation practices)
• To improve the platform

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell or share your information with third parties except as described below.

5. Third parties

GradGuide uses a small number of third-party services to operate:

• Vercel — hosts the website. Your IP address passes through their servers.
• Supabase — stores submitted data in a database hosted in Japan (Tokyo region). Supabase is SOC 2 compliant. As this involves storing data outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure it continues to be handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
• Anthropic Claude API — we plan to use this to help review posts before they appear. This is not yet active. Once enabled, post text will be sent to Anthropic's API for review, and Anthropic's privacy policy will apply to that processing; we will update this page when that happens.

We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or social media integrations that share your data with third parties.

6. Cookies

GradGuide uses minimal cookies — only what is technically necessary to make the site work. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

7. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 you have the right to:

• Request access to personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. Because posts are anonymous we may not be able to identify your specific posts without additional information from you.

8. Data retention

We keep submitted data for as long as it is useful to the community. If you want your post removed, contact us and we will remove it as soon as reasonably practicable.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No internet transmission is completely secure, but we use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database.

10. Children

GradGuide is intended for people applying for graduate jobs — typically people aged 20 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent update.
